A conceptual wayfinding system designed to guide pedestrians through the city of Basel with clarity and consistency.
Sector
Urban Design, Public Infrastructure
Discipline
Graphic Design, Environmental Design
Developed for the Kantons- und Stadtentwicklung (States and City Development) of Basel, the project explores how visual communication and spatial logic can improve urban navigation. The system emphasizes legibility, hierarchy, and cultural context within the city’s historic and modern environments.

Through research and environmental mapping, pedestrian routes were analyzed to identify key intersections, decision points, and visual landmarks. The design approach balanced clarity of information with Basel’s distinctive urban character.

The project contributed to the conceptual framework for Basel’s pedestrian wayfinding strategy and was featured in Signs in Transport Infrastructure by Design Media Publishing Limited.
